Belvoir Thrift Shop welcomes your donations. Remember you must bring them when we are open to receive a tax receipt. When we are closed you may leave them on the donations porch (NOT the gated entrance ramp) but also please remember we do NOT accept: mattresses, box springs, propane tanks/ grills, lawnmowers, flammables, food items, large appliances, or construction materials. DONATIONS SHOULD BE CLEAN AND IN WORKING ORDER. Please do not leave your trash or hazardous waste which includes propane tanks and fire extinguishers. Please recycle!
We thank you for your support and patronage.
We are thrilled to be able to tell you that through your donations to the Thrift Shop, we now are able to pay for daycare for the children of CARE Team volunteers while they train and work missions! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this program -
The Fort Belvoir Installation has established a CARE (casualty response) Team. In the event of a casualty, severe injury or disaster, a family may be offered the assistance of a selected team of trained volunteers – a CARE Team- who can offer emotional support and practical assistance in the first few days. In cases other than death, CARE Team assistance will be offered upon authorization by Fort Belvoir’s Installation Commander. It is not mandatory for a family to accept a CARE Team.
The CARE Teams consist of three to four mature, knowledgeable volunteers who have been screened, trained and who have signed a confidentiality agreement. The CARE Team will provide up to four consecutive days of service to the family until other support arrives. By creating this team, the Installation and volunteer CARE Team members show their commitment to and support of our military families.
Childcare, while the CARE Team members are attending their initial training, monthly work shops and during their mission time, is paid for courtesy of the Belvoir Thrift Shop/Belvoir Community Committee.
Donations to the Belvoir Thrift Shop are tax-deductible.
Belvoir Community Committee is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. Your donations are tax-deductible, but you must bring your donations when the shop is open to get a tax receipt.
